Poodle Skirts to Platform Shoes

A Solid Gold Musical Revue

Marcia Kash and Van Wilmott

This show is a high-powered, funny, fast-moving trip through Solid Gold 9 (top ten) rock and roll hits from the 1950’s through the1970’s. The show is led by a narrator (who also sings) and six other energetic perfomers who pay tribute to some of the best known artists of the time including Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Supremes, Sonny and Cher, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Neil Diamond, Abba, Bee Gees and the Beach Boys, while taking us through the events of the period. Projected photographs of the times- including the assassination of JFK to the landing on the moon, through the Watergate scandal, the rise and fall of the Canadian dollar, 3-D movies etc add to the fun. It is a very visual show with a great deal of period choreography and a great balance of music. This show played sold out houses through a twelve-week run (460 seats) from November 1998 to the end of January 1999 and regularly received standing ovations. It is being mounted in December 2011 at Theatre Aquarius, Hamilton, Ontario.
