Summer 2013

Posted by on Aug 3, 2013 in News | 0 comments

A year has passed since my last blog.  It’s been a busy time.  Too busy to blog, apparently!  I’m proud to tell you that For This Moment Alone has just been published by Dramatists Play Service, Too Many Cooks  was published by Samuel French Inc. in the Spring and is already scheduled for three productions, and Jack of Diamonds had a great public reading in the Fall and is awaiting its first production.  Doug and I are about to launch into a very exciting new project commissioned by Lighthouse Festival and we hope to have a first draft completed by Spring–when I will be able to tell you more about it.  Oh, and later this month we head to the UK to see a production of Who’s Under Where? at the Mill at Sonning. Should be fun!

In the directing realm I began the year working with the graduating class at Sheridan College Music Theatre Program in a production of Chicago!  I got to work with some very talented students and a great creative team– Ray Hogg (choreographer), Steve Thomas (musical director), Ivan Brozic (set and costume designer) and Louise Guinand (lighting designer).  A shout out too to my fab assistant-director Thomas Alderson! After some writing time in March/April and a quick and very cold trip to London I then embarked on prepping my summer shows– Too Many Cooks for Drayton Entertainment, and a revisit of my production of Anne of Green Gables at the Confederation Centre in Charlottetown.  Both projects were a joy to do and successful to boot.  Thanks to all concerned.  And coming soon, after a bit of a break (phew), I look forward to directing the classic The Sound of Music for Theatre Aquarius, followed by  David Craig’s charming play Having Hope at Home for Neptune Theatre back in my second home of Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Casting is now complete for both projects and I’m thrilled!

The year is flying by. I feel grateful for it all.  Till next time…
